Forgotten passwords and endless reset emails have long been a major frustration. That’s changing. Microsoft now allows passkeys to sync across devices using your Microsoft Account in Edge.
Passkeys offer a secure, password-free login experience by leveraging device-based authentication such as Face ID, fingerprint recognition, or a PIN. Built on the FIDO2 standard, they eliminate risks like stolen passwords and phishing attacks.
Previously, passkeys were stored locally, creating issues if a device failed or was replaced. With Microsoft’s update, passkeys are now encrypted and securely synced in the cloud via your Microsoft Account and Microsoft Password Manager. This ensures seamless access across Windows 11 devices, with Mac and mobile support coming soon.
The benefits are clear: fewer password resets, reduced support tickets, and stronger protection against weak credentials and phishing. For employees, it’s one less thing to remember. Next time Edge prompts you to “Save as passkey,” say yes.
