Windows 11 uptake is at an all-time high – what are you waiting for?

If you’re still using Windows 10 in your business, it’s time to plan your upgrade to Windows 11 – or risk getting left behind…

Still using Windows 10 in your business? It's time to consider transitioning to Windows 11.

Three years post-launch, Windows 11 has gained significant traction, capturing a market share of 35.55% by October 2024. Although Windows 10 still commands about 60.97% of the market, change is imminent, and there are compelling reasons to make the switch.

Here's the major update: Starting from October 14th, Windows 10 will no longer receive free support from Microsoft. While this doesn't mean Windows 10 will cease to function, it will stop receiving crucial updates, including essential security patches against malware and cyber threats.

Microsoft will provide extended security support for Windows 10 for an additional year, but this comes at a cost of $30 (approximately £23) per device, which could become expensive. This is merely a temporary fix.

So, why the recent surge in interest for Windows 11?

One reason is the resurgence of the PC market, partly driven by the emergence of "AI PCs" equipped with hardware capable of handling AI tasks. Users want to ensure their devices are compatible with the latest software, including Windows 11. There's also excitement surrounding the introduction of "Windows Intelligence," a potential rebranding of some Windows 11 AI features.

Upgrading to Windows 11 isn't solely about staying current with technology. Another reason for the shift is the more streamlined and user-friendly experience it offers. New features, such as customizable widgets and an enhanced File Explorer, help boost productivity.

A significant advantage for businesses is the improved security in Windows 11, which offers enhanced protection against cyber threats like:

·         Ransomware, where files are locked and held for ransom

·         Phishing attacks, where users are deceived into divulging sensitive information via fake emails

If you prefer to remain with Windows 10, Microsoft's one-year extension might provide some extra time. But our suggestion? Delaying the inevitable means missing out on the benefits of upgrading.
